Ingredients

2 cans (21 oz each) apple pie filling

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix

1 cup unsalted butter, melted (2 sticks)

1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare the Apple Filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine the apple pie filling, ground cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Mix well until evenly combined.

Layer the Mixture: Pour the apple mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

Add the Cake Mix: Evenly sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix over the top of the apple filling. Do not mix or stir; just layer it on top.

Melt the Butter: Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the cake mix layer. Ensure that the cake mix is moistened by the butter but don’t mix it.

Nutty Twist (Optional): If you’re using chopped pecans or walnuts, sprinkle them over the top of the buttered cake mix for added texture and flavor.

Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the edges are bubbling.

Cool and Serve: Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes. Serve warm, topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.
