Ingredients

1 block (14 oz) firm tofu, pressed and drained

2 tablespoons cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon sriracha (adjust to taste)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

1 head of butter or iceberg lettuce (for wraps), leaves separated

1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced

1 cup shredded carrots

¼ cup chopped green onions

Fresh cilantro, for garnish

Lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

Prepare the tofu: Slice the pressed tofu into ½-inch cubes. In a large bowl, toss the tofu gently with the soy sauce, sriracha, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and a pinch of salt and pepper until well coated.

Coat the tofu: Sprinkle the cornstarch over the marinated tofu cubes and toss until each piece is evenly coated. This will create a crispy texture when fried.

Cook the tofu: Heat the vegetable oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. When the oil is hot, add the cornstarch-coated tofu in a single layer. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Remove from heat and set aside.

Prepare the lettuce wraps: While the tofu is cooking, rinse the lettuce leaves and pat them dry with a paper towel. Arrange the leaves on a serving platter.

Assemble the wraps: In each lettuce leaf, add a few pieces of crispy tofu, followed by slices of red bell pepper, a handful of shredded carrots, and a sprinkle of chopped green onions.

Garnish and serve: Top with fresh cilantro and serve with lime wedges on the side. Squeeze fresh lime juice over the wraps just before enjoying for an extra burst of flavor.
