Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup whole milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for apple mixture)

1 tablespoon granulated sugar (for apple mixture)

1/4 cup brown sugar (for topping)

1/4 cup granulated sugar (for topping)

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (for topping)

Optional: vanilla ice cream for serving

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.

Prepare the Apple Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar. Toss well to coat the apples evenly. Spread the apple mixture evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

Make the Cobbler Batter: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, 1 cup of granulated sugar, baking powder, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and salt. Add the melted butter, whole milk, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined; the batter will be slightly lumpy.

Assemble the Cobbler: Pour the cobbler batter over the apple layer in the baking dish. Do not mix; it will form a crust as it bakes.

Prepare the Topping: In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, and 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter.

Bake the Cobbler: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the edges are bubbly. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out clean.

Cool and Serve: Remove the cobbler from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving. Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top for a delicious contrast to the warm cobbler.
