Ingredients

1 sheet of thawed puff pastry (store-bought)

1 cup diced cooked ham

1 cup shredded Swiss cheese

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried)

1 egg (for egg wash)

Salt and pepper to taste

Optional: sesame seeds or poppy seeds for garnish

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Filling: In a medium bowl, combine the diced ham, shredded Swiss cheese, Dijon mustard, chopped chives, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.

Roll Out the Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet. Gently roll it out to smooth the creases and slightly enlarge it.

Cut the Pastry: Using a sharp knife or a pizza cutter, cut the puff pastry sheet into strips about 1 inch wide and 6 inches long.

Assemble the Twists: Place a tablespoon of the ham and cheese mixture near one end of a pastry strip. Fold the strip in half over the filling, then twist the pastry tightly to create a spiral shape. Press the ends to seal.

Prepare for Baking: Lay the twisted strips on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each twist. Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush the mixture over the top of each pastry twist. For added texture, sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds if desired.

Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the twists are golden brown and puffed.

Cool and Serve: Once baked, remove the savory twists from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy them warm or at room temperature!
