Ingredients

1 cup chopped pecans

1 can (15 oz) sweetened condensed milk

1 cup light brown sugar, packed

1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, melted

1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix

1 cup water

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon salt

Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for serving (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare the Baking Dish: In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, evenly sprinkle the chopped pecans across the bottom of the dish.

Mix the Condensed Milk: In a medium bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, light brown sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, and salt until the mixture is smooth and well combined.

Pour the Mixture: Slowly pour the milk mixture over the chopped pecans in the baking dish, ensuring an even layer.

Add the Cake Mix: Next, gently sprinkle the yellow cake mix evenly over the entire mixture. Do not stir; just allow the cake mix to rest on top of the liquid mixture.

Pour Water: Carefully pour the cup of water evenly over the cake mix. Again, do not mix the layers; this is key to the texture of the dump cake.

Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.

Cool: Once baked, remove the dump cake from the oven and let it cool for about 10-15 minutes before serving.

Serve: Cut into squares and serve warm, preferably topped with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra touch of indulgence!
