Ingredients

1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

1/4 cup pure maple syrup

2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust for spice preference)

Zest of 1 lemon

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped (for garnish)

Skewers (if using wooden skewers, soak in water for 30 minutes)

Instructions

Marinate the Shrimp: In a bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, soy sauce, olive oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, red pepper flakes, lemon zest, salt, and pepper. Add the shrimp and toss to coat evenly. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

Prepare the Skewers: If using wooden skewers, ensure they have been soaked in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning on the grill. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

Skewer the Shrimp: Thread the marinated shrimp onto the skewers, about 4-5 shrimp per skewer.

Grill the Skewers: Place the skewers on the preheated grill. Grill for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until the shrimp turn pink and translucent, brushing with any remaining marinade during cooking for extra flavor.

Serve and Garnish: Remove the skewers from the grill and let them rest briefly. Garnish with freshly chopped chives for an added burst of color and flavor. Serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.
