Ingredients

1 pound fresh asparagus, trimmed

3 tablespoons olive oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

Zest of 1 lemon

Juice of 1 lemon

Salt and pepper, to taste

2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

Prepare Asparagus: Rinse the asparagus under cold water and snap off the tough ends. Pat dry with a paper towel.

Make the Marinade: In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, minced garlic, lemon zest, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. If you like a bit of heat, add the red pepper flakes as well.

Coat the Asparagus: Place the trimmed asparagus on a large baking sheet. Drizzle the lemon garlic mixture over the asparagus and toss gently to coat all spears evenly.

Spread Evenly: Arrange the asparagus in a single layer on the baking sheet to ensure even roasting.

Roast the Asparagus: Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the asparagus is tender and slightly crispy.

Add Parmesan (Optional): If using, sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the asparagus during the last 2 minutes of baking for a delightful cheesy crust.

Serve: Remove from the oven and transfer to a serving platter. Squeeze a little extra lemon juice on top for added brightness. Enjoy your zesty side dish!
