Ingredients

2 teaspoons high-quality matcha green tea powder

1 cup milk of your choice (almond, oat, or whole milk)

1 cup ice cubes

1-2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)

1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

A pinch of sea salt (optional)

Whipped cream (for topping, optional)

Instructions

Sift the Matcha: Start by sifting the matcha powder into a medium-sized bowl to eliminate any clumps. This ensures a smooth drink.

Mix with Water: In a small bowl, add 2 tablespoons of hot (not boiling) water to the sifted matcha. Whisk vigorously with a bamboo whisk (chasen) or a small regular whisk until the matcha is fully dissolved and forms a frothy paste.

Sweeten: Add honey or maple syrup to the matcha mixture and whisk until fully incorporated. If you’re adding vanilla extract and sea salt, mix them in at this stage too.

Prepare the Ice: Fill a glass with ice cubes to your liking.

Combine Milk and Matcha: Slowly pour the milk over the ice in the glass. Then, gently pour the matcha mixture on top to create a beautiful gradient.

Stir and Serve: Give the latte a gentle stir to mix all the layers together. You can top it with whipped cream if desired for an extra indulgent touch.

Enjoy: Sip and savor your refreshing iced matcha latte!
