Ingredients

For the Cupcakes:

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

1/2 cup grape soda (e.g. Fanta Grape or any grape-flavored soda)

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 ½ teaspoons baking powder

½ teaspoon baking soda

¼ teaspoon salt

For the Grape Frosting:

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

3-4 cups powdered sugar (to taste)

1 tablespoon grape soda

1 teaspoon grape extract (optional, for enhanced flavor)

Purple food coloring (optional, for color)

Grape candies or sprinkles for topping (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with cupcake liners and set aside.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together using an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.

Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, mixing well after each addition.

Incorporate Soda: Gradually add the grape soda to the butter mixture, mixing gently until combined.

Combine Mixtures: Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Avoid overmixing to ensure fluffy cupcakes.

Fill Cupcake Liners: Scoop the batter into the prepared cupcake liners, filling each about two-thirds full to allow room for rising.

Bake: Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean.

Cool: Remove the cupcakes from the oven and let them cool in the tin for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

                    Prepare Grape Frosting:

                      - In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.

                        - Gradually add powdered sugar, alternating with the grape soda, until you reach your desired frosting consistency.

                          - If using, add grape extract and food coloring at this stage and mix until well incorporated.

Frost the Cupcakes: Once the cupcakes are completely cool, use a piping bag or a knife to frost the cupcakes with the grape frosting.

Decorate: Optionally, top with grape candies or sprinkles for a fun finishing touch.

Serve and Enjoy: These cupcakes can be served immediately but taste even better after a couple of hours as the flavors will meld.
