Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 cup marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 cup breadcrumbs (Italian-seasoned preferred)

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Fresh basil leaves (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray.

Prepare the Chicken: Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. This helps the seasoning adhere better.

      Set Up Breading Stations:

        - In one shallow bowl, place the flour and season it with salt and pepper.

          - In a second shallow bowl, beat the eggs and mix in the garlic powder and oregano.

            - In a third shallow bowl, place the breadcrumbs mixed with half of the grated Parmesan cheese.

              Bread the Chicken:

                - Dip each chicken breast first into the flour, ensuring it's coated evenly. Shake off any excess.

                  - Next, dip it in the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off.

                    - Finally, coat the chicken with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.

Bake the Chicken: Arrange the breaded chicken breasts on the prepared baking dish. Drizzle olive oil on top of each piece. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the breading is golden brown.

Add Sauce and Cheese: Remove the chicken from the oven. Spoon marinara sauce generously over each piece of chicken and sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.

Final Baking: Return the chicken to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Serve: Remove from the oven and let the chicken rest for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired. Serve hot with pasta or a side salad.
