Ingredients

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

½ tsp baking soda

¼ tsp salt

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

½ cup packed brown sugar

3 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp ground cinnamon

¼ cup milk

Cinnamon Swirl Filling:

½ cup brown sugar

2 tsp ground cinnamon

2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan, or line it with parchment paper.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Cream Butter and Cheese: In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, beat the softened butter and cream cheese until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.

Add Sugars and Eggs: Gradually add the granulated sugar and brown sugar to the butter mixture, beating until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Start and finish with the dry ingredients, mixing just until combined. Be careful not to overmix!

Prepare the Swirl: In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and cinnamon for the swirl. Drizzle in the melted butter and mix until everything is combined.

Assemble the Cake: Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon swirl mixture over the batter. Add the remaining cake batter on top, smoothing it out. Finally, swirl the remaining cinnamon mixture into the top layer of batter with a knife or skewer to create a marbled effect.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool and Serve: Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Enjoy: Slice the cake and serve either plain or with a dusting of powdered sugar, or a dollop of whipped cream for extra indulgence!
