2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

½ cup brown sugar, packed

1 tbsp baking powder

1 tsp ground cinnamon

½ tsp salt

½ cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

½ cup milk

1 cup chopped pecans (optional)

For the Cinnamon Filling:

¾ cup brown sugar, packed

2 tbsp ground cinnamon

¼ cup unsalted butter, softened

For the Cream Cheese Frosting:

8 oz cream cheese, softened

¼ cup unsalted butter, softened

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 cups powdered sugar

2-4 tbsp milk (to adjust consistency)

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.

    Make the Base: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

      Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, mix the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.

        Combine: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. If desired, fold in the chopped pecans.

          Prepare the Cinnamon Filling: In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon until a thick paste forms.

            Layer the Batter: Spread half of the batter into the prepared baking dish, smoothing it out evenly.

                      Let Cool: Once the bars are out of the oven, allow them to cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

                        Frost the Bars: Once cooled, generously spread the cream cheese frosting over the top of the bars.
