Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets

1 cup sliced bell peppers (red, yellow, or green)

3 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

Cooked rice or noodles (for serving)

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a medium bowl, combine the sliced flank steak, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, and black pepper. Mix until the beef is well-coated. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.

Prepare the Sauce: In a separate bowl, mix together the remaining 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Set aside.

Blanch the Broccoli: Boil a pot of water and add the broccoli florets. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp. Drain and immediately transfer to an ice bath to stop the cooking process. Drain again and set aside.

Stir-fry the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated beef, spreading it out in a single layer. Allow it to sear for about 2-3 minutes without stirring, then stir-fry until browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the wok and set aside.

Cook the Vegetables: In the same wok, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the minced garlic and ginger, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Then, add the bell peppers and cook for another 2-3 minutes until they are tender.

Combine Everything: Return the beef to the wok, followed by the blanched broccoli. Pour the sauce over the mixture and stir well to combine all ingredients. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until everything is heated through and the sauce slightly thickens.

Serve: Remove from heat and transfer to a serving platter. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Serve hot over cooked rice or noodles.
