Ingredients

2 cans crescent roll dough

16 oz cream cheese, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 large eggs

1/2 cup sour cream

1/4 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)

1 teaspoon lemon zest (optional)

Fresh berries for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.

Prepare the base: Unroll one can of crescent roll dough and lay it flat on the bottom of the greased baking dish, pressing the seams together to create an even layer.

Make the cheesecake filling: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with the granulated sugar using an electric mixer on medium speed until smooth and creamy. Add in the vanilla extract, eggs, and sour cream, mixing until well combined. If you're using lemon zest, add it at this stage for a zesty flavor kick.

Spread the filling: Gently pour the cheesecake filling over the layer of crescent roll dough in the baking dish, spreading it out evenly with a spatula.

Top with the second layer: Take the second can of crescent roll dough and unroll it over the cheesecake filling. You can simply lay it flat or tear it into pieces to create a rustic look. Again, press the seams together as best you can.

Bake the casserole: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the filling is set.

Cool and dust: Once baked, remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for about 15-20 minutes. Dust the top with powdered sugar for a beautiful finish.

Serve: Cut into squares and serve warm or at room temperature, optionally garnished with fresh berries for a fruity touch. Enjoy your delightful Cheesecake Crescent Casserole!
