Ingredients

1 lb (450g) chicken tenders

1 cup buttermilk

1 tablespoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon onion powder

1 tablespoon dried dill

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crunch)

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Oil for frying (canola or vegetable oil)

Instructions

Marinate the Chicken: In a large mixing bowl, combine the buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, dried dill, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Whisk well to create a marinade. Add the chicken tenders and ensure they are fully submerged in the buttermilk mixture. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or overnight for best flavor).

Prepare the Breading Station: In one shallow dish, add the flour. In another shallow dish, combine the breadcrumbs and baking powder. This baking powder will help give the tenders a lighter, crispier texture.

Coat the Chicken: Remove the chicken tenders from the buttermilk marinade, allowing the excess to drip off. First, dredge each tender in the flour, shaking off any excess. Then dip them back into the buttermilk, followed by coating in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing lightly to adhere.

Fry the Tenders: In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat about 1 inch of oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Carefully add the coated chicken tenders in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Serve: Serve the crispy buttermilk ranch chicken tenders warm with your favorite dipping sauce (ranch dressing pairs wonderfully) and a side of fresh veggies or a salad for a complete meal!
