Ingredients

For the Dough:

4 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast

1 cup whole milk, warmed

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

1 tsp salt

For the Filling:

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 tbsp cinnamon

1 cup chopped pecans

1/4 cup bourbon

For the Sticky Topping:

1/2 cup maple syrup

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup unsalted butter

1/2 cup chopped pecans

1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, combine the warmed milk, granulated sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy. Stir in melted butter, eggs, and salt. Gradually add the flour, mixing until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.

Make the Filling: In a bowl, mix together the softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped pecans. Sprinkle on bourbon and mix until well combined.

Roll Out the Dough: After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle (about 16x12 inches). Evenly spread the filling mixture over the dough.

Form the Rolls: Starting from one long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces (about 1.5 inches each). Place the rolls cut-side up in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.

Prepare the Sticky Topping: In a saucepan, combine the maple syrup, brown sugar, butter, chopped pecans, and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring until melted and combined. Pour this mixture over the rolls before baking.

Second Rise: Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap and allow the rolls to rise again for about 30-45 minutes until puffed.

Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Remove the plastic wrap and bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

Cool and Serve: Let the buns cool in the pan for about 5-10 minutes. Carefully invert onto a serving platter, allowing the sticky topping to drizzle over the buns. Serve warm and enjoy!
