Ingredients

3 medium-sized apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp are great choices)

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 tablespoon cinnamon

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

Pinch of salt

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Prepare the Apples: Wash the apples thoroughly. Using a mandoline slicer or a sharp knife, carefully slice the apples into thin rounds, about 1/8 inch thick. Keep the skins on for added texture and nutrition.

Soak the Slices: In a large bowl, mix the apple slices with lemon juice, making sure they are evenly coated. This will not only prevent browning but also add a tangy flavor.

Mix Cinnamon Sugar: In a small bowl, combine the cinnamon, sugar, and salt. Mix well to ensure even distribution.

Coat Apple Slices: Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the apple slices and toss them gently to coat all sides.

Arrange on Baking Sheets: Lay the apple slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheets. Make sure they are not overlapping for even crisping.

Bake: Place the baking sheets in the preheated oven. Bake for 1.5 to 2 hours, flipping the apple slices halfway through, until they are crispy and lightly browned. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.

Cool and Store: Once baked, remove the apple chips from the oven and let them cool completely on the baking sheets. They will crisp up even more as they cool. Once cooled, store in an airtight container for up to a week.
