Ingredients

1 lb ground chicken

1/2 cup diced water chestnuts

1/2 cup shredded carrots

1/4 cup chopped green onions

3 cloves garlic, minced

1-inch piece ginger, minced

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon hoisin sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

20 round wonton wrappers

Oil for frying

Fresh cilantro, for garnish

Lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

Prepare the Filling: In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, diced water chestnuts, shredded carrots, chopped green onions, minced garlic, and minced ginger. Mix well.

Flavor the Mixture: Add the soy sauce, sesame oil, hoisin sauce, salt, and pepper to the bowl. Stir until everything is well incorporated.

Assemble the Wontons: Place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the chicken mixture into the center of the wrapper. Moisten the edges with a little water, then fold the wrapper over to form a half-moon shape, pressing to seal. You can make pleats for a nicer presentation if desired. Repeat this process until all the filling is used.

Fry the Wontons: In a deep skillet or fryer, heat about 2 inches of oil over medium heat. Once hot (around 350°F), carefully place several wontons in the oil without overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels.

Assemble the Tacos: Take two fried wontons and place them side by side on a plate, creating a taco shape by slightly bending them. Spoon some of the remaining chicken filling (optional) into the center or serve it on the side for a fresh contrast.

Garnish and Serve: Top your wonton tacos with fresh cilantro and serve them with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the tacos.
